We camped at Holmsley, in the New Forest, the night before the site closed for the season at the end of October. Thankfully, that made the site much less busy than it would be at any other time. I’m guessing that ‘busy’ at Holmsley is really very busy indeed, as the site has a whopping 600 pitches. To be fair, the pitches aren’t marked out, so a full Holmsley might not feel so crowded as a full site where the pitches are rigorously specified.
Madrid, and its Carnaval
The days in Madrid have been wonderful. We traveled for hours from Toledo on Saturday and found a campsite. Not difficult, as it’s within spitting distance of the motorway sliproad. What we hadn’t realized before we got there is that the closeness to central Madrid came at a price – it was slap bang in the middle of a busy industrial estate.
Camping During Lambing Season
Well, somehow we’ve managed to creep through the winter and even the most cynical of us must surely be thinking that Spring might just be somewhere on the horizon. That can only mean one thing. Yes, in just a few short weeks, Kate Humble and Adam Henson will be back on TV, showing us dramatic scenes in the barns of a working sheep farm somewhere remote.
